Peak 4 Poverty seeks to empower children affected by HIV/AIDS in Tanzania “through education so that they can achieve economic self sufficiency, access to affordable housing, health care, and meaningful employment on which they can build and secure a successful future.” They aim to support their children from elementary school to college, enabling them to break the cycle of HIV/AIDS related poverty.
Peak 4 Poverty raises funds to support their mission by hosting three hiking trips in the United States each year. They also host one Mt. Kilimanjaro hike each year. Their audience is primarily the Des Moines and Chicago metro areas.
Peak 4 Poverty has opportunities for both interns and volunteers. They currently have a Marketing intern but would be open to considering interns of various academic backgrounds. Internship duties might include mailing, donor solicitation, event planning, marketing, and more. They also seek volunteers to staff occasional events. Opportunities can be sought by contacting Heather Kauffman, Events Coordinator.
