Description: Each semester, we employ three paid staff for approximately 10 hours per week. We also use between three and five interns (unpaid) facilitate visits from foreign visitors under the US Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
We average between two and three international projects per month.
(1) programmers, who schedule the visit (project) and arrange housing, transportation, and appointments with relevant resources;
(2) drivers who provide transportation and may accompany visitors during their appointments;
(3) home visits, volunteer members who provide a dinner in their family home; and
(4) interlocutors, who accompany visitors as ride-alongs on trips, or accompany them to appointments and tours to act as docents to explain the culture, history or significance of the trip or event. Programmers have specific training that we prefer to give them prior to turning over a project to them, but often training is on-the-job. Drivers must be legally licensed and insured. Home visits only require willingness to have guests for dinner. Interlocutors are recruited and selected based on their individual area of expertise, usually suited to the event or project.
