American Friends Service Committee is a Quaker organization that includes people of all faiths. Their primary work involves peace education and economic justice. To address this mission, they often work in international development.
Much of their activity includes hosting forums, sponsoring legislative campaigns and tracking legislation, and providing education about international issues. In addition, they often advocate for immigrant rights. Interns would be closely involved in these projects. Occasionally, volunteers are also needed to staff events, etc.
Upcoming: they will host an art exhibit about Afghanistan entitle “Window and mirrors” that uses Afghan society and the conflict in Afghanistan to inspire conversation about war. Future projects also focus on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
